Signal vs WhatsApp: Delete Message Comparison

Open the chat containing the message you want to delete.
Long-press (tap and hold) the message.
Select Delete.
Choose Delete for Everyone.

That’s it. The message disappears from both your device and the recipient’s, replaced by a small “Message deleted” note.

Delete for Yourself Only

If you only want to clean up your screen and not bother the other person, there’s also the option to Delete for Me. This clears the message on your end but leaves it intact for the other person. Handy if you’re trying to tidy up without raising alarms.

Media Files: Deleting a message doesn’t always delete the media file saved to your device gallery. For Signal, you need to manually clear downloaded images or videos from your device storage if you want to wipe traces.
